Embrace alpaca knitwear this autumn
Perilla, a leading retailer of luxury alpaca socks, is launching a brand new range of gorgeous alpaca knitwear in a sumptuous colour palette for autumn and winter.
Long and short cardigans will add a touch of chic to autumn outfits, while soft sweaters in a variety of styles are the perfect way to wrap up warm during the winter months.

Amazing alpaca

The hair of the alpaca has unique hollow fibre properties, developed as a result of the extreme temperature conditions in the animal's natural mountainside habitat.
Alpaca yarn is therefore warm and hard-wearing but also hypoallergenic and boasting a very low prickle factor, so even those who cannot usually wear wool will love Perilla's socks and clothing.
The yarn, which is processed and dyed in Britain, has a uniquely smooth fibre which also means that Perilla's socks and clothing can be worn several times and still remain soft and sweet-smelling.

Superb socks, scarves and more

As part of Perilla's mission - to provide the ultimate treat for feet - the company's cosy alpaca socks are available in variety of stunning hand-selected colours and patterns from dusty pink.
Soft alpaca bedsocks are perfect for night-time warmth, long country socks with padded soles fit snugly under wellies, while walking and climbing socks are great for a range of outdoor pursuits like hiking and skiing.
Perilla also offers an exquisite selection of 100% pure Himalayan cashmere wraps, stoles and scarves, ideal for adding a stylish splash of colour to any outfit, as well as cashmere and alpaca knitwear.
About Perilla
Perilla was launched in March 2006 by Worcestershire-based mother-of-three Sandra Morton. A model during the 1970s and more recently a farmer breeding horses and sheep, Sandra has long understood the need to mix fashion with functionality. A chance meeting with a leading alpaca breeder led Sandra to discover the luxurious quality of the British alpaca socks which now form the heart of Perilla's unique and stylish business.

Perilla in the press
"One of the problems with winter sailing is keeping your feet warm. Gore-Tex boots are infinitely warmer than traditional rubber wellies, but if you're still suffering, why not invest in some serious socks? I've been trying out a pair of gorgeous, luxury alpaca socks from Perilla, which might seem a touch pricy at £22, or alternatively absolutely priceless for enabling you to extend your season and enjoy clear, sunny but extremely cold winter days on the water." Cathy Brown, Editor www.themainsail.com
"Every now and then gear arrives in the go4awalk.com office that just takes your breath away. Beautifully presented in a ribboned gift box, these socks just ooze luxury. Made from 75% Alpaca and 25% nylon they are thickly padded and delightfully soft to the touch. My boots never felt so comfortable." www.go4awalk.com

No great outfit is complete without a few well thought out accessories. Be it a stunning pair of earings or a stylish bag, the perfect accessory has the power to both add the finishing touch to an already beautiful ensemble, or completely transform an outfit from `a day in the office` to `a night out on the town`. Yet whilst jewellery is always an option, the onset of the chillier months brings with it the opportunity for further accessorising with winter warmers such as woolly gloves and cosy scarves.

A wardrobe essential for both men and women during the winter is a good pair of gloves. Not only do gloves keep your hands warm when out and about in the cold, they also have the potential to add a slash of colour to any winter outfit. Scarves are also essential for keeping the cold out during the winter, though are increasingly being replaced by alternatives such as cashmere shawls, wraps and stoles. Available in a fabulous range of colours, these options are a little more quirky than the traditional scarf, though equally as cosy. A good pair of socks also should not be forgotten.
Though not always on show, these are essential for keeping feet warm when (or perhaps if) the snow arrives!

Before buying your new winter accessories, there are a number of important factors to consider. First of all, you should remember that you will be wearing this item next to your skin, particularly the delicate skin of your hands and neck, so it is vital that your new purchases aren`t itchy or irritating. Additionally, and perhaps obviously, the material should be one suited to retaining heat and keeping you warm - a scarf that doesn`t protect you from the winter wind is not going to be a good investment. Lastly you will need to weigh up the factors of price versus quality. Hundreds of cheaply priced scarves and gloves are available on the high street, but these generally lack the quality and durability of a slightly pricier item.

Accessories made of Alpaca fleece are becoming more and more popular, as not only are they beautiful, but also have a number of desirable benefits. Alpaca fleece is made up of hollow fibres meaning it is incredibly lightweight, whilst its insulatory properties are ideal for clothing intended to keep out the cold. It is very soft - so there`s no danger of that `scratchy` feeling sometimes found with wool - and is also hypoallergenic, thus ideal for those with sensitive skin. Furthermore the breathable fibre of this fleece has the added bonus of remaining odourless, should you wish to wear a pair of Alpaca socks for a few days.
